For Russ Neufeld, a Canadian who lived his last 15 years on the Kansas prairies, a winter run couldn’t be more fitting. And so on Jan. 9, 2021, nearly four years after his death, the fourth annual running of The Neuf 9K and 2-mile run will honor his memory. We will also raise money for the Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and celebrate life.
Before he died in January 2017, his parting wish was ... "take all this love you have and share it. It only multiplies and there are so many who could use it...just spread the love folks - it's the only thing in this world that endures." That is what we intend to do at The Neuf!
Join us for the fourth running of The Neuf 9K and 2-mile run at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021, outside of Mojos Coffee Shop on the campus of Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. The 9K runs through North Newton into Newton and then heads off-road along the Sand Creek trail while the 2-mile stays on the pavement in North Newton and is conducive for runners of all abilities.
All registered runners receive a timing bib from TimerGuys, a commemorative t-shirt, and post-race festivities at Mojos which include coffee, hot chocolate, and continental breakfast items. The top three male and female finishers receive TBD custom-made artwork created for this event, and age group winners will be recognized.
Registration opens on September 9, 2020. The Neuf early-bird entry fee until December 9, 2020, is $40 for the 9K and $30 for the 2-mile. The regular entry fee is $45/$35 until January 6, 2021. Online registration closes Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at midnight, but in-person registration is available on Thursday and Friday, January 8 and 9, at packet pickup for $50/$40. Race day registration and packet pick up closes 15 minutes before the race and may not include the commemorative running hat.
The Neuf has been developed by friends and family of Russ Neufeld to honor his memory. All proceeds benefit the Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship at Hesston College and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
