    • Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hesston College.

  • Who benefits from the Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship at Hesston College?

    • The Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship will be designated for a student with high financial need who might not attend Hesston College without this scholarship.

  • Why Hesston College? 

    • Russ was a 1997 Hesston College graduate and, at the time of his death, served as the College’s Director of Information Technology.

  • Why the 9-ball and 9K theme?

    • Russ went by “Neuf” (short for Neufeld), which happens to be “nine” in French. He even installed a 9-ball as the shifter handle on his latest car.

  • What is Mojo’s?

    • A coffee shop in North Newton on the campus of Bethel College and the generous host location for this event. Go to http://www.mojoscoffeebar.com/ for more information.

  • Is this a timed event?

    • Eating Doritos as fast as you can.

  • What are the award categories and prizes?

    • Hand-crafted wall art tiles for the top 3 gender finishers in each race from Hanna Eastin Pottery.  They are cool and one of a kind.  Hanna rocks!

  • Do I Need To Be Some Sweet ’Ole Runner To Do This?

    • Yes, Russ loved sweet ‘ole people.

  • Is there an age limit? Is this a kid-friendly event?

    • No age limit and kid friendly.

  • What is the Post-Race Party?

    • Grab coffee, pastries and sandwiches at Mojo’s after the race.

  • Can I Come Just To Watch The Race?

    • Of course.

  • Can I skip the run and just come to the Post-Race Party?

    • Russ would approve, but he might give you crap for not trying.

  • Do You Offer Group Discounts?

    • Are you kidding, this is a benefit!

  • When and where is packet pick-up and on-site registration?

    • Packet pick-up is at Mojo's Coffee, (300 E. 27th Street, North Newton) 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday.

  • When does registration close?

    • Online registration closes on Wednesday 1/8 at midnight.

    • In-person race registration at Mojo's is from 3-6 p.m. Friday 1/10 and 8:30-9:30 a.m. on race day, Saturday 1/11 (cash and checks only).

  • Where should I park?

    • Park in the parking lot south of Thresher Stadium (north end of campus). Walk south out of the parking lot, around Thresher Gymnasium to Mojo's Coffee.

  • What do I need to bring?

    • Running shoes, adequate layers of clothing to keep from freezing and lots of love to share.

  • Are dogs allowed?

    • Sure, that sounds fun. But if ice melt is needed, it will not be pet friendly.

  • Will there be food available?

    • Yes, Mojo’s will be rockin’ it with complimentary coffee and breakfast items for each participant.

  • What should I wear?

    • Clothes

  • Will there be photographs taken at the race?

    • Yes, photographs will be taken by volunteers. All photographs will be free to download and will be posted on the website via a Facebook album after the race.

  • What happens if there is bad weather?

    • What would Russ say? Suck it up, buttercup!

    • Seriously, though. Safety first; we’ll be in touch. Keep an eye on the website and Facebook for updates.

  • Refunds, Cancellations and Additional Information

    • We’ll try not to cancel, unless the weather is really, really bad.  If we have to cancel, there will not be refunds, but we will get your commemorative light-weight running hat to you for sure.  All race proceeds will still go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship at Hesston College.  We hope you understand.
