The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship Fund at Hesston College.

Who benefits from the Russ Neufeld Scholarship at hesston College?
The Russ Neufeld Memorial Scholarship will be designated for a student with high financial need who might not attend Hesston College without this scholarship.

Why Hesston College?
Russ was a 1997 Hesston College graduate and, at the time of  his death, served as the College's Director of Information Technology.

Why the 9-ball and 9k theme?
Russ went by "Neuf" (short for Neufeld), which happens to be "nine" in French. Fitting for a French Canadian, he even installed a 9-ball and the shifter handle on his latest car.

Do I need to be some Sweet Ol' Runner to do this event?
Yes, Russ loved sweet ol' people!

When and where are packet pick-up?


  • Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM at the shelter at Cottonwood Park (2500 N. Main Street, North Newton, Kansas) located on the corner of 24th Street and Minnesota Avenue in North Newton, Kansas, just south of Mojo’s Coffee Bar from 4:30-6:00 PM.

  • Saturday, January 8, 2022  from 9:00-9:45 AM outside in front of Mem Hall on the campus of Bethel College.  Mem Hall is located just east of the start and finish line.

When does registration close?
Online registration closes Thursday, January 6 at 11:59 PM.  In-person registration is available during packet pickup on Friday evening or Saturday morning at a cost of $50 for 9K and $40 for the 2 mile.  In-person registration is by cash or check only and closes at 9:45 AM.
